Police have welcomed the seven year sentence handed down at court today (27th May 2021) to 26 year old Martin Jamison in relation to the death of 21 year old Dylan O’Kane.
Dylan was a front seat passenger in a car that was involved in a head-on collision on the Coolkeeran Road in Armoy on May 7th, 2017.
Inspector O’Brien said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with Dylan’s family and friends who continue to grieve his loss. I also want to mention the serious injuries caused to two other men who were also caught up in the crash.
“This incident had a devastating impact on the local community and the incredibly sad reality is that this loss of life could have been avoided. Our message has remained consistent – never drive after taking drink or drugs and please slow down.
“I would like to pay tribute to my emergency service colleagues who attended the scene and to those members of the public who came forward to assist with the investigation.”
Jamison will serve half his sentence in custody and half on licence.
