Rambling Rory Raises Funds For Save The Children.
Staff and Pupils would like to commend Rory Campbell from P5KG who is currently raising funds for the charity Save the Children. During the month of April, Rory will walk ONE HUNDRED MILES to not only raise money for children who are experiencing difficulty or adversity at present, but also raise awareness of these issues to the public. Many charities have lost out on significant amounts of funding in the last year and have been unable to continue with their normal services.
Thanks to Rory and his fundraising efforts the charity will be able to continue with its important work.
Mrs Graham, Rory’s teacher commented that “We are so proud of all the hard work and dedication Rory has put into his 100mile challenge so far. Each day he keeps us up to date on his new total and he is keeping a close eye on his Fitbit throughout the day. He is a true inspiration to both his pupils and to his teachers! We wish him all the success for the rest of his challenge and know there are lots of boys and girls who will benefit greatly from his hard work and commitment. Keep going Rory, you can do it!”
Mr Kinney, the acting principal at St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s Primary School also wanted to commend Rory on his fund raising initiative. He stated that “I am genuinely impressed that Rory would not only think of others at this difficult time for everyone, when all children have had such a difficult time, but that he would actually do something tangible about it and take time from his day every day for a month to raise much needed funds for this important charity. I would like to commend him for his genuine compassion and empathy for others and wish him all the best as he completes his fundraising challenge. It is great to see a young person taking such initiative and I am very proud to have him as a pupil at our school.”
Mrs Fitzpatrick the Rights Respecting Schools co-ordinator was also impressed with Rory’s efforts. She stated that “It is wonderful to see a young child who understands that the world is a small place and we are all part of the one world family so must all help each other. Rory chose the charity Save the Children because he wanted to help other children who might not have the same opportunities or life chances that he has. Well done, Rory!”
